Ian Houston was born in 1934 in Gravesend, Kent. He studied music at The Royal College of Music in London and studied painting part-time ad St. Martin's School of Art. 

Ian Houston's paintings have been exhibited in the UK since 1956 and worldwide since 1970. Private and corporate collections which include paintings sold to HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Barclays Bank plc and many other important collectors.
